Service Unit website: www.dolhpinsunrise.com/lajollags

Service Unit Manager, Lisa Rustin, has resigned. Peggy Goddard ran the meeting.
  1. Treasurer - Wyndham Jackson
    1. The Service Unit bank account balance is $2224.59. Give Wyndham receipts if you are owed money for any service unit expenses.
    2. A troop bank account is necessary to sell cookies. Wyndham has Bank Authority Forms for opening accounts. A service Unit Team member needs to be a signer on all troop bank accounts.
  2. Registrar - Peggy Goddard
    • Troop Member Worksheets - Peggy has processed all those she has received and contacted any troop leaders who have girls that still need to register. For those who have not sent theirs in, please send to Peggy ASAP.
  3. Activity Director - Laura Wheeler
    1. Processing of forms has been going smoothly with Email, fax, etc. If you don't feel you are getting good service, call her and talk about it.
    2. Caper Chart Suggestions: Laura has magnetic Caper charts, with magnets that the girls have painted of themselves (available at Michaels). She keeps a "Camp Book" by the Caper Chart which contains all the information the girls need to do their jobs. This works well for Junior level and above.
    3. Camp Book: Laura brought in a Camp Book that she uses with her troop of 20+ girls. Some of the things it contains are: recipes, maps, agenda, menu, job descriptions, how to build a campfire, chuck box inventory, list of camping equipment, how to wash dishes, how to tie knots, how to keep from getting lost, flag ceremonies, animal track identification, and more. Copies of the Camp Book are being made by Andrea Migdal for those leaders interested. Laura says the girls plan the meals and activities for a campout. She pulls out of a hat the capers and tent assignments.
  4. Recognitions - Pat Pickett
    1. Sara Wheeler was recognized for photographing the Girl Scouts in the La Jolla Holiday Parade. Photos of the parade were passed around.

These include: Outstanding Leader Outstanding Volunteer Leadership Development Anyone can fill out a form nominating someone for these awards. They are survived by her husband, who was injured. A Benevolent Fund has been set up through Washington Mutual. The Service Unit voted to donate $118, the proceeds from the Juliette Low Campfire.
